61 days ago my brother and I "published" our very first GOACHI Libido Magazine. We discovered that there was no real Libido magazine on the internet and decided to fill in the gap! But there was one small problem. Neither of us had ever written a magazine before. How do you write a magazine from scratch? SCREW IT JUST DO IT! Well, here are our "numbers", after 2 months: 6315 Page Views in 18 countries! People actually are looking for information on libido and relationships! A special thanks to our very small but very motivated team! I couldn't be happier with our 3rd edition! Let us know what you think and share away because next month we want the whole world blue! In the 21st century 20-year-olds have more information about SEX than previous generations could have ever fathomed. Thanks to the internet, taboos disappear and with smart-phones we can send steamy messages. Mobile apps, like TINDER ("A swipe can change your life."), and dating sites make it very easy to meet potential (bed) partners in only a few minutes. Sounds like this hookup culture is giving us an amazing sex life, isn’t it? Well, you might be surprised. Let’s take a look at intimacy through the past few decades. There has been a huge shift in our knowledge of sex and sexuality, and growing feminism, has changed the way we form relationships. Our grandparents hardly had a clue what sex was all about when they were younger. They barely ever talked about it openly and people blushed when using the ‘S’ word. Sex before marriage carried a huge social stigma and courtship lasted for months or even years. The main difference is that now we’re just waiting a bit longer to get married. By the time we actually do settle down, we've tucked more experiences between the sheets.

Do we have better Sex than our parents?
Nicholas Grosskopf, a sexuality professor, doesn’t think the sex that millennials are having is any better than that of older generations, but he does believe that definitions of “sex” may differ among age groups. Those who were born between the 80s and 2000s, are a lot more open than their elders were at their age when it comes to getting it on. Not only in terms of what you do when you have sex, but also with whom and what you consider acceptable. Millenials are experimenting with more oral and anal variations than their parents would ever want to know about. We know a lot more about female sexuality, says sex therapist Ian Kerner, author of She Comes First. “We have a better understanding of how a female orgasm functions. And we’re seeing a renaissance in the design of sex toys and porn created specifically for couples.” According to San Diego Sexual Medicine researcher Rose Hartzell, more men today are concerned with pleasing their partners. "With improvements in sexual medicine and better access to information about how their bodies actually work women today are technically capable of experiencing more pleasure than ever before." So far so good, but well informed people do not necessarily have better sex. For millennials it’s harder to be satisfied about their sex life. Porn can be great visual aid to foreplay but it can also cause performance anxiety for those who are still uncomfortable with their bodies. Those films raise higher expectations and if you can’t meet those expectations you’ll get frustrated as a couple. Regardless to age we can all agree on the fact that it takes a lot of practice, effort and time to get to know our own bodies and our partners. Practice makes perfect! So, enjoy discovering each other and switch off those smartphones!
A balanced diet should provide the body with proteins, fat and carbohydrates (the macronutrients) together with vitamins and minerals (the miconutrients). For a couple of decades now, we are told that fats, especially saturated ones, are bad for our health. So in the western world we started to eat more and more carbohydrates. Unfortunately we eat a lot of processed carbs like everything that is made from refined grains (f.e. pasta, bread, cookies..), canned and dried fruits, sodas, fruit juices, sweets, alcohol and so on. The list of products that contain hidden added sugars is immense, even meat preparations get added sugar! So despite our low-fat high-carbs diet, there have never been so many people with cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, obesity, etc. That’s because saturated fats and cholesterol in our food don’t play a significant role or no role at all in the development of those diseases. And science backs this up!

So what about those refined sugars? They digest more rapidly than complex carbs in whole foods and therefore the blood sugar level raises faster. The pancreas has to release a lot of insulin to lower the blood sugar level again. So the frequent eating of processed carbs leads to a raised level of insulin in the blood. Science shows that hyperinsulinemia drives diet-induced obesity. Eating too much sugars is what makes us fat, not eating fat. Obesity is one of the causes of insulin resistance and insuline resistance is linked to erectile dysfunction. Another interesting observation is that the testosterone levels drop after ingestion of sugar! Keep that in mind gentlemen! Did you know over 60000 studies on nitric oxide (NO) have been done in the last 20 years? Nitric Oxide has received tremendous attention due to its cardiovascular benefits. The interior surface of our arteries (endothelium) produce this important molecule. With age, plague builds up in the arteries (atherosclerosis) and this reduces our body its capacity to produce nitric oxide. How can you increase nitric oxide in your body? Dietary supplements that contain icariin or amino acids L-arginine and L-citrulline (which can also be found in nuts, fruits, meats and dairy) can help your body produce nitric oxide inside the cells.

During my first 5 years in Portugal, for the first time in my life, I didn't feel the necessity to go on vacation. Why would I? My life felt like a vacation! Surf is on fire almost all year round and why would you go away from paradise in the summer? This cosmopolitan suburb of the Portuguese capital started out as a fishing village that gained fame as a resort for Portugal's royal family in the late 19th century. Nowadays, my home town, has turned into a popular vacation spot. Sadly, at the same time a lot of friends of mine are leaving Portugal. The crisis and bad working conditions were their only reasons for leaving this magical place and they all left with pain and regret in their harts. With all my friends leaving I confess that I have also thought of moving on to the next adventure. But WHERE would I go? I love this country and the life here. Working conditions are shite and it's way too corrupt, but it's still my little paradise and I would miss my paredão!

Quinoa, sometimes called the super grain of the millennium, is a great gluten-free source of protein, iron, and fiber. This grain is very rich in fiber and contains a high-quality protein similar to that found in meat. If you want to run long distances or train well in the gym quality food and the right supplements are fundamental. Ingredients (2 People) 1 3/4 cups of water 1 cup of uncooked quinoa 1/2 cup coarsely chopped seeded tomato 1/2 cup chopped fresh mint or parsley 1/4 cup raisins 1/4 cup copped cucumber 2 tablespoons (TS) chopped green onions 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil 2 teaspoons minced fresh onion 1/2 tablespoon salt & 1/4 TS freshly ground black pepper 1/2 cup of fresh lemon juice Directions Give the quinoa a good rinse before cooking (otherwise the grains can be bitter) Combine water and quinoa in a medium sized saucepan and bring to boil. Cover and let it simmer approximately 20 minutes (until all liquid is absorbed) Remove from heat and fluff with a fork. Stir in tomato, remaining ingredients and lemon juice. Cover and let stand 1 hour. Serve chilled or at room temperature. You can also serve this dish with a mustard vinaigrette to flavour things up a bit. Quinoa salad
Summer time is just a couple of months away and it's time to get fit and healthy. Today we want to share a super easy Apple Walnut and Cranberry Salad recipe. Simply delicious. Easy, tasty and fast, my kind of recipes Ingredients Salad (2 people) 1 bag 50% blend mixed greens and spinach 1 red apple and 1 green apple 1/3 cup dried cranberries 1/2 cup feta cheese (crumbled) 1/3 cup walnut (crumbled) Ingredients Vinaigrette 1/4 cup olive oil 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar 1/2 teaspoon Dijon mustard 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano 1/4 teaspoon of fine cut basil 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper Instructions In a large bowl, mix together all the salad ingredients. In a small bowl, whisk together all the vinaigrette ingredients. Drizzle the vinaigrette over the salad, toss the ingredients and ready to serve! Looking for recipes. Look no furhter. Sending feelings of calmness & happiness One of the sweetest things my husband ever said to me, was after a yoga class when I asked him what he had thought of when the yoga teacher instructed us to send positive thoughts off into the world. ‘I sent you my feelings of calmness and happiness, because that is how I want you to feel.’ Now my husband is not the one to sweep me off my feet with romantic words a lot (I’ve told him many times I would like to send him off to do a how-to-be- more romantic course), so I knew this really came from his heart. pushing to do things your way, putting your own judgments and opinions above your partner’s feelings,… These subtle dynamics over time will create tension, coldness and distance. Putting your heart in is about sincerely wishing for your partner to find calm and happiness. The Habit of Opening Your Heart My husband doesn’t even know this, but I think that him telling me that he wished me calm and happiness really made me a better person. Because to be honest, I’m more self-involved than he is. And when he told me how he wanted me to be calm and happy, I was so moved and also in part because I also realized that in general, his calm and happiness was not enough on my radar. I swore to myself that it would become one of my priorities. And believe me, the occasions that I could either chose to put me first or his calm and happiness, turn out to be almost daily! It’s small things like dreading some social obligation and instead of asking him to go with me because that would make it a little more bearable for me, telling him to stay home, do something that relaxes him and really enjoying the idea he is enjoying the afternoon. Or it’s about not sulking too long about some stupid little thing that can quickly grow in my mind if I let it, but learning to let go and find back my positive energy a lot sooner so that I don’t spoil his evening. Nothing is ever worth that!

Or at least a healthy relationship, based on love and respect. We’re both almost 40 and unfortunately this really seems to be the age that many relationships around us fall apart. And when I look around me and reflect on the relationships that have stranded and those that are still going strong, this really seems to be the one consistent factor. The couples that are going strong genuinely care about each other’s inner calm and happiness and those that have ended, stopped caring a long time before. And when they end, it comes to no surprise. Couples that care for each other, have a good energy to be around. They make you feel happy and welcome too. Their energy is soothing and nourishing. And couples that are ‘using their back instead of their heart’ have a tense energy around them. They might seem ok on the outside, but energy never lies. A Really Simple Habit Everyone who has had some practice in yoga, meditation or any other mental and emotional energy practice, knows that tapping into a different kind of energy, can be a difficult thing to do. Many people want to change their energy, but don’t know how. Of course, we believe at GOACHI in a daily healthy practice of doing things that replenish your mind and body (being in nature, yoga, sports, spending romantic time together). But the one habit that is really simple and that you can start with today is opening your heart.

Half Marathon of Lisbon Let's kick Ass... or not
"You have to forget your last marathon before you try another. Your mind can't know what's coming." ~ Frank Shorter March 22 2015, Meia Maratona de Lisboa. I was really keen on beating my record of 1 hour and 46 minutes. And then 2 days before my half marathon I got a message from a great friend of mine who lives in San Diego. Of course we ended up going out! To make things even worse I went to play padel tennis the evening before and had drinks until 1am. A bad idea if you have to wake up 6 hours later to run 21kms! I had everything in my favour to beat my record. A great friend, Fernando, who works for the newspaper A Bola, put me on the VIP team. That gives us the privilege to start the race all the way in front with 35000 runners behind us. The first couple of kilometers I felt the adrenaline kick in. I was doing great until kilometer 7 and for a moment I was convinced that I was going to beat my personal record. So I stupidly I started running faster. I didn't realize how hot it was until I reached kilometer 8. A couple of meters further my legs started to feel heavier. Playing padel the day before wasn't a great idea. So I just turned on my music up and kept on going. Around the 13th kilometer the little devil showed up on my shoulder and that's when things got ugly. I was suffering big time. Giving up is not in my DNA but I had overdone it. I had been running way too fast. The little devil was telling me to give up. Today it wasn't going to happen.
I was able to make the little bastard shut up for about another 2 kms and then I just paralyzed on the side of the road. I caught myself staring at the train station. "Just get on the stupid train and go home. You know it's ridiculous to keep on running. Today you're not going to make it". I stopped there for about 20 seconds thinking about the easy option and then my padel partner from the day before popped up in my head. What was I going to say to her, to all my friends and family? I smashed the little bastard off my shoulder and got back into the race. About 200 meters further I got "lucky". A man running in front of me fainted and fell on the ground. I stopped to help the man and held his legs up until the paramedics took over. That little minute helped me out big time. I was only 5 kilometers from the finish line. Let's do this! I stopped thinking and started running, gradually speeding up every 500 meters. I was pushing it again, but the end was near. About 300m to go I saw a man on the ground receiving a cardiac massage. Later that day I read that the poor man died. I accelerated, focusing on my only objective: crossing that line. In a couple of seconds it would all be over. With arms in V-position I arrived at the finish: 1 hour, 53 minutes and 35 seconds, my worst time ever! But ... I made it. I didn't beat my personal time, but I did beat the distance! Was it worth it? People who don't run are probably asking themselves why on earth would you do this? Why suffer, why all the pain? I would love to explain this to you, but you will never understand until the day you start running. Only long distance runners understand.
