The LGMS Weekly
LAKE GENEVA, WI-
Middle school students in Lake Geneva weren't always the wolves. It turns out that our mascot has a history that goes back to the building of our LGMS.
“The story behind the wolf starts back when we moved the school from Central Denison in 1999. The old mascot from the old school was the Denison Indians, but we took a vote and decided to be the wolves. The boy, a young man named Joey Tresler, who came up for the wolf idea also wanted to dress up as a wolf." Mr. Ocker explained.
The wolf credo that has been hung up around the school represents the characteristics that wolves have, and what middle schoolers should act like. The wolf credo, written with help by Mr. Ocker, shares the wisdom of the wolves. Currently, the mascot is portrayed by an exceptionally tall eighth grader who has been in the role since sixth grade!
Usually the wolf appears during school events. Either to promote a game or get fans excited. If you have dreams of becoming the wolf, contact Mr. Ocker. He conducts "Wolf Training" and recommends students for the job. Training is hard work, and includes proper costume wear, a mute portal, inappropriate vs. appropriate behavior, and giving hugs and high fives. If you pass an interview you could possibly be the new LGMS wolf!

LGMS FITNESS ROOM- LGMS is very fortunate to have its own fitness room. Pacer tests, fitness surveys, and pedometer information helped LGMS with thousands of dollars of grant money to support our new equipment. Many LGMS students and staff members agree that a focus on physical health helps students see progress.
7th grader Dominic Rizzo, shares: "The fitness room is great because you can get fit without going anywhere. The machines track your steps and heart rate."
New watches in the fitness room, students are motivated to keep their heart rate going, and stay active for the full class period.
Next time you go to the fitness room, enjoy being with friends and keeping your body strong.
