Summary The average temperature for January will be slightly below normal. Precipitation will be near normal for the month. Detail The weather will change to a colder pattern at the start of January. Colder air from Canada will flow southeast to Ohio during the first few days of the month. The upper level winds will change to a more west to east pattern during the second week of January. That pattern will bring periodic storms to Ohio. The temperature will fluctuate significantly with each storm. Warmer air will flow into the state ahead of each storm and colder air will follow the storms. The overall impact of the weather pattern should produce slightly below normal temperatures for January. Each storm will bring a chance for rain or snow and the total precipitation should be near normal for the month.
