Direct video evidence
of competency
Multi-level
engagement
Bongo's Video Assignments and Virtual Classroom enable experiential learning and soft skill development at scale. With their proprietary video technology and powerful feedback capabilities, these tools provide:
Scalable soft skill development
Continuous learning opportunities
There are significant gaps between the skills workers possess and the proficiency level employers expect from them. Individuals need skill-building opportunities and timely feedback to close these gaps, but it’s difficult to scale these practices using traditional methods. It’s time to assess competency through a new lens.
Meet Bongo.
A single sign-on option
This lets users access Bongo within Moodle instead of having to log in through
a separate, outside tool. Deep linked assignments with automatic grade sync
This feature eliminates the need for instructors to manually input grades
into the Moodle Gradebook.
Deep linked meetings
These allow instructors to link to Virtual Classroom sessions from the course
homepage in Moodle.

Talk to your Moodle Partner or visit https://www.moodle.org/plugins/local_bongo
to download the Bongo plugin.
Once you enter the access code, your two-week
trial of Bongo begins.
This trial gives you full access to all of Bongo’s features, which we outline in this user guide. After your trial period ends, contact your Moodle administrator to continue using our platform.
When prompted on the plugin installation configuration screen, follow the https://www.bongolearn.com/moodle-partnership to request your access code by email.
We’re here to help you get the full Bongo experience during your trial period, but remember that the resources in this Guidebook are always available to you. Follow the in-app prompts to see everything the platform has to offer!
Feeling the beat already?
Need more time?
Keep exploring! Your trial lasts two weeks, so use that time to experiment with multiple assignment types, meet synchronously with students, and explore more advanced options in Bongo.
See what your learners have to say! After giving them a few days to complete the assignment, view the responses your learners submitted. You can leave them feedback through time-stamped video & text comments!
HERE'S HOW TO MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR TWO-WEEK TRIAL:

Create your own Q&A assignment! Q&A puts learners on the spot to answer questions asynchronously, replicating the nature of a real-time conversation. Using this assignment type first allows you to experience some of Bongo’s proprietary video technology. To get a feel for the Q&A workflow, brainstorm a few simple questions you’d like to ask your learners. Our in-app walkthrough will guide you through the setup process. We recommend starting with general, open-ended questions (ex. What course topic have we covered that you want to learn more about and why?) during your trial run as you get familiar with this workflow.
Get to know Bongo. Tour the example assignments in your Bongo account to see sample questions, learner submission examples, and mock feedback for different workflows. Use this time to brainstorm how you can leverage video assessment!
Get a few answers. Invite your learners to complete the assignment you created. We suggest starting with 3-5 participants as you get a feel for the Bongo flow.
Contact Bongo or your Moodle Partner to extend your trial.
You can upgrade at any time by reaching out to the Bongo team or your Moodle Partner.

ASSIGNMENT TYPES:
Learners practice, self-assess, and deliver video presentations with supporting materials.
Leverage these workflows to create experiential exercises where individuals demonstrate skills, collaborate with their peers, and apply knowledge within a real-world context.
Learners work together to manage, complete, & submit a group presentation.

Provide personalized feedback via time-stamped video and text comments.
Leverage a patent- pending review system to ensure every individual receives the same amount of feedback.
Choose between
flexible grading options like letter grades,
five-star ratings, or
customizable rubrics.
Enable self-assessment on various assignments to give individuals a chance to reflect on their work.
Video Assignments help evaluators finalize all of the work individuals do with its comprehensive review process. Formative assessment capabilities like self-assessment, personalized feedback, and peer review maximize the potential for improvement, while summative grading options give evaluators a way to assess every individual’s comprehension level.
SyncComments - When reviewers start leaving a comment, the video automatically pauses. Reviewers have two ways to leave SyncComments:
Text: Simply start typing the moment
you have feedback to share.
After evaluators leave a comment, the feedback syncs to that particular point in time and is viewable by the individual when they rewatch their recording.
Once individuals submit a recording for one of their Video Assignments, reviewers have the ability to deliver personalized feedback and coaching on that submission. All the feedback individuals receive is time-stamped to a specific point within their video, enabling reviewers to point out exactly where their strengths and weaknesses are. We call these SyncComments.
Effective feedback has the ability to improve not only comprehension, but also an individual’s desire and motivation to learn.

Rubrics

Rubrics are completely customizable and can be imported as a CSV file. The system generates a grade from the rubric based on the point values you assign to each category. Regardless of grading type, all scores sync with the gradebook in your LMS.
Auto-Pass
Along with Bongo’s feedback capabilities, evaluators also have summative assessment options. Just pick the format that suits you best when creating the assignments. You can grade based on:
5-Star Rating
Balanced Peer Review - Video Assignments feature a patent-pending peer review system where individuals receive a set number of peer reviews that automatically populate.

This means individuals can’t choose who they review — eliminating the bias that might come with reviewing friends — and ensures every individual receives the same number of reviews.
As students identify facts, errors, and the overall message in a peer’s assignment, they develop cognitive and metacognitive skills such as self-awareness, critical thinking, and accountability.
Leave SyncComments via text or video
On every Video Assignment, there is a toggle available to enable peer review, which occurs post-submission. Individuals have many of the same capabilities as evaluators when reviewing their peers. They are able to:
- Keith J. Topping
Provide a five-star rating

Access rubrics
when evaluators
use them
Post-Submission INSTRUCTIONS - After individuals submit a video, there is also
an option to provide post-submission instructions. Evaluators often use this space to provide
examples of what a well-executed presentation looks like, or to explain how they want individuals to complete their peer review exercises.
Because self-assessment gives individuals more control over their learning, they often feel a sense of empowerment.
Both of these activities give individuals an opportunity to see what others do well, reflect on their own recording, and apply that insight to improve going forward.
Self-assessment is available on certain Video Assignments both pre- and post-submission. Not only do individuals have an opportunity to reflect on their videos and re-record them in specific workflows, but they can also assess their own performance based on a rubric post-submission. You can enable this feature in the advanced settings of assignments you grade with a rubric.
