CLEAR THE CLUTTER:
3 excuses to ditch for a better life
Inside Out...The REAL Secret to Beautiful Skin
Is it really possible to have healthy, younger skin or is this a pipe dream? I asked myself that question a few years ago when I got tired of looking for the perfect skin care product to change the way I looked. After all, I reasoned, this is all part of aging.
Well, I discovered that, while it’s important to use quality skin products, it’s even more important what you take into your body and how clean it is. Whatever is going on inside of your body will inevitably show on the outside… your skin.
One of the things that really helped improve my skin was a total body detoxification. The best, most expensive skin products in the world will not be effective if your body is not healthy inside and your cells are awash in waste.
Your skin is the body’s largest organ and, while it protects everything underneath, it is also a route of elimination for toxins that are inside.
I am going to give you 10 simple ways to detox your body.
The REAL secret to healthier skin
how does detoxification work?

Basically, detoxification means cleaning the blood. This is done by removing impurities from the blood in the liver, where toxins are processed for elimination. The body also eliminates toxins through the kidneys, intestines, lungs, lymph and skin. However, when this system is compromised, impurities are not properly filtered and every cell in the body is adversely affected.
If you have never detoxed before and your lifestyle and nutrition is not what it should be then you need to do a complete body detox. There are lots of programs out there and you don’t always need to take expensive supplements for this to occur. Certain types of food and water are the best detoxifiers around.

which detox program is right for you?
After you have completed your program here are 10 simple ways to support your body’s detoxification systems:
1. Eat plenty of fiber, including brown rice and organically-grown fresh fruits and vegetables. Beets, radishes, artichokes, cabbage, broccoli, spirulina, chlorella, and seaweed are excellent detoxifying foods.
2. Cleanse and protect the liver by taking herbs such as dandelion root, burdock and milk thistle, and drinking green tea.
3. Take vitamin C, which helps the body produce glutathione, a liver compound that drives away toxins.
4. Drink at least two quarts of water a day.
5. Breathe deeply to allow oxygen to circulate more completely through your system.
6. Transform stress by emphasizing positive emotions.
7. Practice hydrotherapy by taking a very hot shower for five minutes, allowing the water to run on your back. Follow with cold water for 30 seconds. Do this three times, and then get into bed for 30 minutes.
8. Sweat in a sauna so your body can eliminate wastes through perspiration.
9. Dry-brush your skin or try detox foot spas/foot baths to remove toxins through your pores.
10. What is the most important way to detoxify? Exercise, one hour every day.
There are many detoxification programs and detox recipes depending on your individual needs. Many programs follow a 7-day schedule or longer because it takes the body time to clean the blood. My cleansing programs are 14, 21 or 30 day programs depending on the need.
Here are some examples of detox diets:
1. Simple Fruit and Veggie Detox
2. Smoothie cleanse
3. Juice Cleanse
4. Sugar Detox
5. Hypoallergenic Detox

We have been taught from a young age that there are so many things wrong with our skin that we should be stressing about. Things we need to avoid, prevent and quickly find fixes for.
What if I- a skin care product developer- am here to say its a crock? Take a second to hear me out.
Yes I hate that I have had acne most of my life and that that they left me little memories aka the ugly scars that have "ruined" my face. Yes, I also am worried about wrinkles- constantly criticizing the thinking line I am developing in my forehead, the laugh lines around the eyes and my hereditary deep lines around my mouth that are becoming increasingly larger from my inevitable soon to be sagging skin.
I am sure, you too, have your vices with your skin, things that bother you and that you immediately want to fix and improve. But what will this worrying do for you? My guess is not a whole lot other than add more stress and negativity to yourself...and we all know stress does not do a body good.
If you are not aware by now that the greatest skincare truly starts within, then I am here to make it clear: healthy skin care starts from within! It starts with what you eat, how you deal with stress, the functionality of your digestive system, your genetics, and your emotions. If you are not ok on the inside it can only begin to manifest on the outside. So while topical skin care does help address many skin care issues, maintain healthy skin and prevent or prolong some of your concerns, this alone is cannot be your focus and certainly should not be a point to stress over! Life has enough stresses to be thrown at us every single day, from all angles. Skin care products should be fun and add a sense of ease to your life as they help you maintain that gorgeous visage.
My recommendation? Stop Skin Shaming!
Stop Skin Shaming!
Become in tune with yourself: realize your emotions and stress levels and find a healthy way of releasing and managing it.
Love yourself and respect yourself: who you are, what you've experienced are all part of your specific journey, get on board with it!
Learn to love your skin and body the way it is and focus on making improvements that add to your health rather than focusing on comparison or vanity.
Eat healthy based on YOUR body and its specific needs.
Use natural skin care products that are kind to your skin, body, mind and environment.
Take some time to come to terms with the fact that we ALL experience skin conditions and that it is a product of your entire being, a symptom of a deeper underlying issue and that if you want to truly address it you must not only use the topical skin care products but also look inside yourself, to your lifestyle, diet and well-being.
Stop stressing yourself out over your skin. You are gorgeous the way you are.
Your skin reflects your life so learn to love it and treat it with kindness; inside and out.
"DITCH THE STRESS AND WORRYING OVER EVERY LITTLE POSSIBLE THING OUR SKIN MAY OR MAY NOT DO."
At the start of a new fresh season, its always a good idea to evaluate your current lifestyle and see if there are any changes you can make to improving your well being, and one thing that may come to mind right away is detoxing. You may of heard of many strict and fancy detox programs but this article may help you see that keeping it simple and choosing to incorporate these gentle restorative tips EVERYDAY may help make your transition into living a cleaner, healthier, more balanced life, a lot easier. Eating the right foods, and incorporating the practice of Yoga into your life can prove to be incredibly beneficial in keeping your body looking and feeling its best all year around.
Our bodies do a gentle detoxification everyday, and every moment! your organs are always working hard to rid your body of harmful toxins and pathogens, even while we are sleeping are bodies are busy restoring, repairing and cleansing. This article will help you make choices to support this natural process so the organs can do what they are designed to do. One of the most beneficial things you can do right now is to not eat late at night (which I am sure you have heard before) the reason being that your body needs the energy during the night to do all those amazing things mentioned, and it cannot if its using that energy to digest your meal. A general rule is to leave 12 hours from your last meal of the night, until breakfast. If you need to have something at night, eat it 2-3 hours before bed or have something liquid like a smoothie or a bowl of soup as those digest quickly.
Our bodies need to detox all the bad things we eat, drink, breath and get on our skin and as wonderful as this natural detox our bodies go through is, we sometimes need to intervene to help the process be more efficient, the idea is to eliminate the toxins from the organ while restoring them and feeding them with the nutrients they need to function optimally and rebuild. Next Ill take you through each detoxing organ, along with tips to keep that organ functioning at its best!

Keep it Simple.
The Kidneys also play an important role in the detoxing as they filter out harmful toxins, when the load of toxins gets to much their functioning slows down, high levels of stress in the body can also leave the kidneys feeling depleted.
Here are the best foods for Kidney health:
red bell peppers
The Lungs acts as mediators between the air outside and the air within our blood stream. We need to rid the organs of the toxins that can be negatively affecting the function of the organ. The lungs function best when they are clean and healthy.
You can detoxify your lungs by quitting smoking if you smoke, eliminating household toxins like chemically scented air fresheners, and improve the air quality of your home by cleaning carpets regularly and using air filtration systems.
Practicing Pranayama (Yogic breathing techniques) is also a great way to strengthen and cleanse the lungs, head over to your local Yoga Studio and speak to the instructor about learning some simple breathing techniques, you can also find some online, but I would recommend seeing an instructor first for proper guidance and safety.
Last, I will add the largest organ in the body, our Skin! We take in many environmental toxins from our skin, not to mention from all the perfumes, colognes, lotions and beauty products we use. To keep your skin healthy switch to an all natural and organic beauty regime that uses less harmful chemicals, remember what you put on your skin, is the same as eating it, your body absorbs a lot of what goes on your skin, so chose wisely. Sweating is another great way to cleanse the skin of harmful toxins, get some exercise, go for a run, or try hot yoga!!

When we think of detoxing the first organ that tends to come to mind may be the liver, and it is a very important part of the detoxing system. The liver has 3 main detoxification pathways: Filtering the blood to remove large toxins, enzymatically breaks down unwanted chemicals, and synthesizes and secrets bile for excretion of fat soluble toxins and cholesterol. If you think your liver needs a little love, them begin to limit or eliminate your consumption of alcohol, drink lots of water and eat fresh organic foods. Eating organic foods will limit the amount of pesticides, herbicides and fungicides in your body.
Here are the 10 best foods to eat to keep your liver healthy:
minimal amounts of healthy fats (like avocados)
detoxing through yoga
There are many Yoga poses that you can include daily as part of your new clean lifestyle, these poses will stimulate your circulatory, digestive and lymphatic systems helping you to rid your body of waste and toxins. Yoga can also help to detox your mind and improve mental clarity, while lowering your stress levels and helping you to release physical, mental and emotional toxicity. Here are my 5 favourite detoxifying poses that I teach my students to practice daily.
1. Wide Legged Forward Bend- This pose will help to open up tight hamstrings, as you fold over you reverse the pull of gravity encouraging circulation of blood through the body, and to the brain. The folding motion also squeezes the belly which also helps to move things along for digestion.
2. Supine Spinal Twists- Twists will leave you feeling energized and focused, but will also give you mental clarity, relieve stress and deep tension and detoxify your entire system by massaging internal organs and encouraging the elimination of toxins. When you twist fresh blood and nutrients rush back to the digestive organs helping to nourish them.
3. Legs Up the Wall Pose- This restorative yoga pose helps to increase blood and lymph circulation. Fresh blood flows to the abdomen encouraging digestion and it also calms the nervous system and is very therapeutic for a depleted and overly stressed mind and body. Practice right before bed to unwind after a long day and improve your sleep so your body can effectively restore and renew during the night.
4. Downward Facing Dog- Having your heart higher than your head relives the pull of gravity and aids in circulating blood and lymph. This pose will gently tone the abdomen which stimulates digestion.
5. Revolved Chair Pose- Stimulates and massages the abdominal organs. Stimulates the heart, improves circulation, respiratory and lymphatic systems. Reduces stress and anxiety, stimulates and energizes the nervous system and it also helps to calm and centre while strengthening the muscles and relieving tension in the back, neck and shoulders.
So, the practice of Yoga daily, as well as choosing to live a healthy and balanced lifestyle which includes exercising and eating well, you can improve your health and increase your energy while keeping your organs happy, healthy and working at their best.

A great way to start living a healthier lifestyle and continue to grow daily on your journey is to adapt mindful eating habits.
What is mindful eating?
Mindful eating is becoming fully conscious of the foods we are eating and increasing your awareness of the effects these foods have on our body. Mindful practices is getting your thoughts right and aligning it with your goals. If your thoughts are not right it is really hard to follow through and stick to a goal.
“Change of diet will not help a woman who will not change her thoughts. When a woman makes her thoughts pure, she no longer desires impure food.”
being mindful with food
You don’t have to go extreme and I would not recommend it. If anything we are adding value, awareness, and nutrition to your eating habits instead of taking anything away. Just like with everything, you need balance. A conscious effort is required from you to initiate any change.
When it comes to nutrition and the foods we eat we have to become mindful and aware of what it is we are putting in our bodies. A lot of times we become mindless and eat out of realization. We eat with friends, family, at a social gathering or event, we eat in a hurry, on our break, in-between clients but rarely do we eat to honor our bodies. Food needs to be seen as
nourishment for our bodies. Foods are meant to give us energy and make us healthier, they are not meant to make us feel tired or sick, yet the majority of people are feeling this way because of the disconnection with the mind and the body.
Once you get to the point where you have no feeling of guilt after eating you have come to a state of awareness. Awareness is assurance from your divine purpose that you are on the right mindset. The knowledge is their from self realization.
Nutritional Health Coach www.healthyselfkitchen.com
First you have to increase your awareness of foods and increase your knowledge on some basic nutrition. We know that foods are meant to give us energy, they are meant to make us healthier. If you eat something that makes you feel tired or makes you feel bloated or moody then become aware of that. Some foods may even cause breakout or skin rashes if our bodies are not able to metabolize them properly. 80% of our immune system comes from our gut and there are a handful of foods that cause inflammation in the gut. Becoming more mindful and aware of these foods is a good start to optimizing health and increasing your vitality. We know that vegetables are loaded with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that can prevent us from becoming sick. These micro-nutrients are needed and are essential for proper body function and metabolism. Good fat sources such as coconut, avocados, seeds, and nuts are also loaded with nutrients such as minerals and essential fatty acids that are needed for proper growth, repair, and cellular function.
When we are more mindful and eat in mindfulness we create a relationship with foods and a personal attachment with the experience. Knowing you are eating something that is healthy and what your body needs at that moment is very satisfying and rewarding to your palate, your mind, and your body. It is a great feeling when you get to know your body. Through my personal experience and helping clients, I have gained that mindfulness with my foods and know exactly what my body needs when my thoughts are right. Not having to depend on a specific diet but being more mindful has really helped me to feel and look my best. Mindful eating can do just that for you!
1. Why do we eat?
2. When should we eat?
3. What should we eat?
"Listening to your body is very crucial in the process. "
TIPS TO FOLLOW DAILY TO INCREASE AWARENESS
1. Drink plenty of water, staying well hydrated prevents hunger when unnecessary.
2. Cut out processed foods and foods that are GMO. Avoid pesticides and try to stick to
organic produce and avoid tap water. (The chemicals and pesticides accumulate over time
and prevent us from becoming fully aware)
3. Never allow yourself to get hungry for more than an hour, which will rob you from the present moment.
What makes us full is not necessarily the foods, it’s the mindfulness of the things around us that create happiness and satisfaction. The foods we eat are what connects us to our bodies and helps to increase awareness and mental clarity. Foods can either age us and make us sick or they can make us healthier and feeling younger. Which do you choose?
questions to ask yourself
It’s only by feeling fear fully and embracing it that you can see it for the messenger it really is. Fear is usually just a messenger that you are moving out of your comfort zone. You are growing, and changes are coming. If you truly dive into your fears, you can watch her change and expand into adventure and excitement instead of a constricted resisting.
Your heart wants you to detox the layers of fear you have built up, that you have avoided. The best way to do this is to put your attention on it. Allow it to be. Breathe deeply and sit with it. Pay attention to the emotions that arise in your body. Yes, there may be tears. There may be anger or grief. In the end, you will feel a lightness come over your being as you move into a space of unlimited potential and trust. The more you do this, the less you will fear in the first place.
by Nina Andrijanic
Anger is arguably one of the most uncomfortable feelings because it is a call to action. When we do not have the tools to deal with it constructively, we stuff it down and try to ignore the internal fire it evokes. Sometimes we are shamed into that because we believe anger is ugly or not appropriate. Or we do not take the action the anger is calling us to take, because we do not value ourselves enough. Many of the problems we experience emotionally are due to our beliefs about them.
I love the spring. It is getting lighter outside, trees are getting greener, and flowers are blooming everywhere. For me, it is a new time starting every year. It is an opportunity to detox your body and mind. But have you ever thought about detoxing your emotions?
Many of us get caught up in our in our emotional patterns that keeps us stuck and prevents us from moving forward into creating a life we desire and a life that makes us feel alive.
In this article I am going to walk you through 3 core emotions (fear, anger and sadness) and show you how to detoxify them so that they become your empowered partner in your life.
Detoxify your emotions
Sorrow is the void that is carved into you by pain. Sometimes with no warning at all, it fills up with the inner rain of sadness and spills over, flooding your entire being from deep within. At its worst, it can sweep you away in its currents and drown you without a moment’s notice. At the very least, it subtly dilutes all of the brightness in your life. We were not born to suffer in sorrow. Circumstances, upbringing, parents lacking tools, other people’s poor choices, things that were not in your control, have cast what you might believe is a permanent shadow that will follow you for the rest of your life. But there is a way to stand in the sun. The most important is to accept of self and story, and in order to
Step 1 - First, admit that you are carrying unhealed sadness. Do this by describing the sorrow you carry and why. Many carry sorrow from childhood experiences that have been suppressed. As we get older, what we kept locked in our hope chest empties and we don’t know what to do with it. So we just sink. Sorrow is residue from the past. That is not who you are today.
Step 2 - Establish an accepting relationship with your sorrow. Instead of allowing it to drown you, friend it by showing it compassion as if you went back and saw yourself as a child but now as an adult. Shower that kid with compassion. Tell her what you wished someone would have told you when you were her. Make sure she does not internalize her sadness. Make sure she understands that what she’s going through is not tied to her worth.
Step 3 - Know that you are not your sadness. Just because you carry it, it does not mean it defines you. You may feel sorrow but you are not fully accept, you must accept your feelings completely. Easier said than done. Our families, culture and religions taught us to mistrust and be critical of our true emotions. But know that light will begin to shine as we start to reconnect with our feelings / truth.
Step 4 - As you connect with your sorrow, you are connecting with younger parts of you, parts of you that did not want to feel or what to do with those feelings. Now as an adult, I hope you allow you to no longer suppress but allow whatever emotions come, instead of stuffing them deep into a box. If you feel like crying, then cry. Cry harder than you ever cried before. You owe that to yourself. Maybe that’s why you’re sad, because you have never allowed yourself to be. The more you reconnect with younger parts of self and shower it with compassion, providing the safe container she never had, the smaller that shadow will become, until there is no more shadow.
Your emotions are your inner GPS, and detoxing your emotions is the first step into creating an empowering relationships with them. There are no good or bad emotions, they are all valid and valuable. I call emotions our inner messenger, because they provide messages that there is something we should be paying attention to in our life. When you learn to encode the message your emotions provide, they stop holding a grip of you and you can experience a sense of freedom when you allow yourself to feel them. Enjoy the journey of emotional exploration!
Parents who withhold from emotional expression out of fear of appearing weak teach us that emotions should be suppressed, including positive emotions like love and its expression of affection. Therefore we do not know how to experience strong feelings without resistance.
Similarly, we do not know how to be comfortable or support others when they are emotional. We are in danger of passing on this unnatural behaviour to our own children. Staying present with a feeling, accepting it and allowing it its natural momentum are crucial to emotional detoxification. This frees us from our past, our conditioning, and enables us to be authentic in the present. It empowers us to be who we really are.

Herbs for healthier skin
‘Detox’ is quite a buzz word and there are all sorts of detox trends that people follow. Many traditional herbal remedies are believed to be detoxifying. But what does ‘detoxifying’ actually mean? Are there any herbs that are detoxifying and if so, how do they benefit and improve the health of the skin?
In herbal medicine when we talk about detoxification we are specifically referring to herbs that help to support the organs and systems of the body that break-down and eliminate waste. Regularly consuming herbs that support these parts of the body can help these systems to function better.
When they function better, there is less waste circulating around the body. This usually makes us look and feel much healthier and more energetic.
You’d be surprised at some of the common plants that can be detoxifying. Nettles (Urtica dioica) are a great example. Nettles are believed to support kidney function. The kidneys help to filter waste products from the body so consuming nettles regularly can help to support the elimination of waste via these organs. For this reason some skin conditions e.g. spots, acne, itchy rashes etc. can improve when taking nettles regularly.
by Vivienne Campbell
BSc. (Hons) Herbalist | www.theherbalhub.com
Infuse 2 tsp of the fresh herb in cup of boiled water for 10 minutes.
Strain and drink.
Drink 3 cups daily
You’ll be surprised by the compliments that you can get when you start to drink these regularly!
Usually your skin looks clearer and healthier, and you have more energy so it’s an excellent regime to improve your over-all health and vitality.
Some plants aid detoxification by supporting the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system is a crucial part of the immune system. Part of the function of the lymph is to help to remove metabolic waste products and to clean them up so that the waste products don’t continue to circulate around the body. So a healthily functioning lymphatic system should prevent a build-up of waste products in the body. Cleavers (Galium aparine) and red clover (Trifolium pratense) are two common, safe herbs that are thought to support the lymphatic system. Lymphatic herbs usually need to be taken for a minimum of 6-12 weeks. They are usually of particular benefit to skin disorders that are worsened by lymphatic congestion e.g. some types of eczema, psoriasis, and acne.
The other class of herb renowned for their detoxifying qualities are the bitter herbs. The bitter taste is crucial to the therapeutic action of these herbs (and is why you can’t sweeten certain herbal medicines, more’s the pity!). When you taste something bitter, it stimulates the bitter taste buds on your tongue. In turn this stimulates the vagus nerve which triggers a chain reaction in the body that stimulates liver function and digestion.
The liver has dozens of functions including breaking down fats, alcohol, prescription drugs, hormones etc. It’s even involved in cleaning white blood cells which means that it plays a part in a healthily functioning immune system too. Improving liver function can often help to improve the appearance of the skin because the body is functioning more efficiently, the skin is less congested and this can help to clear spots, acne, and fluid retention. Consuming bitter herbs such as dandelion root (Taraxacum officinale rad.) or marigold (Calendula) can really help to clear the skin and give you a healthy glow! I recommend drinking a cup of these herbs first thing in the morning because I find them to be most effective when taken this way.
**If you are on any prescription medications, have any underlying illnesses or are pregnant then always check with a qualified medical profession before taking any herbal medicines.
The simplest way to use herbs is to make an herbal infusion or tea. You can use fresh herbs if you have access to them from your garden or you can buy herbs from an herb shop or herbalist.

3 excuses that are ruining your life
Over the years I have discovered that excuses play a major role in why people don’t make the necessary changes to their lives.
These excuses stop you from moving forward. Taking more time for yourself. Investing in your well-being. Achieving your dreams. They keep you playing small. Feeling joy. And becoming your most authentic and fullest version of yourself.
These excuses keep you stuck in habits, patterns and loops that repeat over and over again. Your life eventually goes on autopilot.
Change is not easy. Sometimes it feels easier to stay on autopilot or in a comfort zone.
I know this personally. I also fell into this trap. Excuse after excuse. Story after story. For years, I prolonged the necessary changes in my life. Experiences had to become intense for me before I started to drop my excuses and take the required action steps to change my life for the better.
The funny thing is, my excuses and stories really masked the real reason why I did not want to change.
I was scared.
I was terrified to change.
To progress. I did not know what was on the other side of change. I was accustomed to my life. The way things were. How I operated. And even though I was not happy functioning this way, the risk to change was greater than the reward.
I was in fear and I convinced myself that I was not ready. I actually believed my excuses. I gave my power away to those excuses. It was only until after the fact that I recognized that my excuses were masking my fear and paralyzing me from moving forward.
Looking back I often used only a few excuses to hide my fear. And I often hear those THREE infamous excuses coming out of other people’s mouths over and over again.
What are they?
“I don’t have the time.”
“I don’t have the money.”
“I’m just too busy!”
Any of those ring a bell? Let’s explore those excuses.
by Vanessa Petronelli
Lack of time is an excuse I hear often.
How many times do you hear yourself saying…
“I CAN’T BELIEVE HOW TIME IS FLYING BY!!!” or “I HAVE NO TIME FOR ANYTHING THESE DAYS!”
I smile when I hear this. Because as much as this might feel real. It is an illusion.
It’s easy to believe that there aren’t enough hours in the day to accomplish your everyday tasks and responsibilities. Many of us try to squeeze in as much as we can in a day. But if you were to actually take the time to slow down, you might notice that a lack of time is really all in your head!
The more that you reinforce that you “don’t have enough time,” you will continually create that as your reality. You will hold on to this belief for the rest of your life feeling like time is always running out. And all you have time for are your responsibilities. Your kids. Your job. Your “to do” lists.
When you are in this frame of mind, time is running YOU.
lack of time
Start asking yourself in each segment of your day:
What would make me feel most alive right now?
Can I put something off for tomorrow or the next day?
If I could create more time in my day what would I enjoy doing?
Where is my belief about having no time coming from?
Becoming inquisitive and self-explorative always helps you to get a better idea of your motives and choices. You have more time in your schedule then you might think. It requires you to become self-aware. Slow down. Become present. Check in with yourself. And choose powerfully how and what you will spend your time and focus on.
If you put YOU as a priority, then you will always find the time.
What you pay most attention to, you create. You’re a powerful being. You get to design your life. You have free will. Your perception of time has the ability to speed life up or to slow it down.
It all comes down to choice. If you want to stop the perpetual cycle of time running YOU, then you need to start reprogramming your attitude and frame of mind around it.
Another important factor to consider is what you DO with your time. You might distract or keep yourself so busy with things that you THINK are important such as perusing your social media feeds. Or playing games on your smart phone. Or vegging out in front of the television for hours. It’s not that there is anything wrong with these activities, but they could be sucking your time and energy away from doing something more productive and beneficial for your well-being.
If you still buy into the belief that time isn’t on your side and there aren’t enough hours in your day, try this:
SLOW DOWN. Break your day down into segments. And be sure to BREATHE!

"The more money I invested on my inner self the more money I made in return"
Life supports you in being your fullest and most whole self. Your Spirit desires to live a life in truth. And Love. As well as purpose. Life supports you infinitely. It has your back. And there truly is an unlimited amount of abundance to go around for all. Only the mind looks at the concept of money from a limited point of view.
You don’t always require a lot of money to take care of yourself. There are plenty of things you can do for yourself that don’t require cash at all.
Sitting in silence is free. Self-help books are an inexpensive tool to help you get inspired and informed. You can purchase your books from a second-hand store or borrow them from a library or a friend.
Some coaches, therapists and healers offer a “sliding scale” rate to those who are in need. Or from time to time they might have an opening to work with you pro-bono (code word for no charge).
You can partake in work-exchange programs at local yoga studios. You can attend community or karma yoga classes. Gyms offer free trial passes and discounts on memberships during certain times of the month.
And look out for complimentary workshops and courses in your area through community magazines or local businesses.
I believe that where there is a WILL there is always a way! Ask and you shall receive.
You are investing in discovering WHO YOU REALLY ARE from the inside out.
Lack is a mental state. It is a belief system rooted in limitation and fear. In order for you to reap the rewards of the abundant and prosperous Universe, it requires a drastic shift in your awareness and beliefs around money.
Investing in your inner game will give you the best return on investment (ROI).
An expensive dinner out won’t help you to let go of the patterns and habits that have been keeping you stuck. A trip to the mall won’t assist you in developing a deeper understanding of why your relationships aren’t working. That brand new car might get you around in style but it won’t teach you to develop stronger self-worth or live your life on purpose.
I struggled with this concept for many years. This was MY number one excuse for a long time. I couldn’t justify spending the money on therapy, coaching or any sort of healing back in the day. But I was OK spending my money on clothes. Or an expensive evening out.
Temporarily I felt gratified. My outer game was on point. But my inner game was lagging. No matter how great my butt looked in a new pair of jeans my inner world was suffering.
Eventually I learned that the more I invested in my inner game and not just my outer game, Life would actually INCREASE my abundance.
Yes, you read that right.
Lack of money is a very common excuse people buy into (no pun intended). It is easy to believe that there is not enough. It is reinforced consistently in our society. Each of us have been conditioned to some extent to believe that there is not enough to go around. Only a certain amount of wealth is distributed among a small amount of the population. The rest have to work their entire lives to survive.
I am not naive. I know that a lack of money is a real issue for a large percentage of the world. It can be extremely challenging to downright impossible to think about investing in yourself when you are in survival mode.
And I am not suggesting to blow all of your savings on self-development courses or one-to-one coaching. I certainly am not encouraging you to go into the red either. Only you know the truth about your financial situation.
For those of you who are not facing financial woes this can be a very BIG excuse and story.
I know how easy it is to penny pinch with yourself. To invest in everything and everyone else but YOU. Investing in YOU isn’t just about material items either. Investing in YOU means to invest in your whole well-being. Your mind. Your body. Your soul.
lack of money
Sometimes too much time. And I felt embarrassed by it.
I had a belief that being busy made me appear more successful and in demand.
Well that all changed pretty quickly. I worked tremendously hard to be sure to not appear that way. Or feel embarrassed by my lack of being in demand. By year three I was so busy that busyness not only equated to success but more like frequent burn out.
I was chronically exhausted. I was getting sick often. I gained weight because I barely had the time or the energy to work out regularly or practice yoga. My calendar was so PACKED! I would sometimes work six or seven days a week.
I became a human doing.
I knew it had to change. My belief about busyness needed to blow up ASAP. I had to let go of this idea. Because if I didn’t I would be left with no social life. No health. And a poor quality of life.
So I started slowing down. And slowing down gave me the ability to get to the bottom of why I held on to this belief so strongly. I had to let go of a lot of the things that were contributing to my hectic schedule and my workaholic life. I learned that I was avoiding aspects of myself and fears that I didn’t want to face or deal with.
It was the best choice I had made in years. I got my life back. My health back. And my business ended up going to a whole other level because of it.
The more I took care of myself the fuller my life became.
EVERYONE IS BUSY THESE DAYS. With jobs and kids. Spouses and households to run. Soccer games and ballet lessons to get to. Dinners to cook and lunches to pack. Blah. Blah. Blah.
I get it. All of life’s demands can get pretty overwhelming!
I have met many adults who have so much going on that they couldn’t even imagine taking a twenty minute power nap in their day. Let alone set aside ninety minutes for a session with me every two weeks.
Well, I hate to burst your busy bubble. But I am going to. Your chronic busyness is seriously RUINING your life! Your health. Your relationships. Your dreams. Your goals.
And it’s especially ruining the present moment. Which in case you didn’t already know, IS ALL YOU REALLY HAVE.
If you continue to use busyness as your excuse to not take care of yourself. To not slow down. Rest your body. Connect with your mind, body and soul. You will ultimately look back at a life that was consumed with doing and not with being.
I get the impression in today’s world that being busy is something to applaud. If you aren’t busy you run the risk of having people think you’re lazy. Or not important.
I felt this way about my busyness. During the first couple years of opening my current small business I had A LOT of time on my hands.
Again the power of CHOICE comes in to play here. What you choose to take on in life is really a personal choice. If you choose to busy yourself and not find the time to focus on YOU, then life will reflect that back. There will be NO ROOM in your life to do the things your heart desires.
There will never be a perfect time in life to take that vacation. Or get that massage. Or to enroll in that meditation retreat you’ve been eyeing for months online. Unless you create it.
I am not suggesting to abandon your responsibilities. Or the people in your life. I am merely suggesting that you might have to rearrange, reflect and reconsider the things you say YES to.
This means that you have to consciously choose who and what you give your energy to. And choose the things in your life that light you up. Rather than have you running around frantically.
Eventually living a chaotic and over busy life will wear you down. I have seen this happen time and time again to my client’s and with myself. Life will make you slow down. That broken leg, disease or illness is actually Life’s way of getting your attention and making you literally slow down. It’s not a punishment. It’s your WAKE UP CALL.
Your life and your well-being is far more precious than time, money and busying yourself ever could be. So why keep on perpetuating your excuses? You have the power, the choice and the opportunity every single day to create the life that you desire for yourself. Get going NOW!
