Meik Wiking, executive director of the Copenhagen Institute for Happiness, graduated in Political Science, worked for the Danish Ministry of oreign Affairs, and for seven years for the think tank Monday Morning, studying sustainability in the green economy . But in 2012 e was struck by a UN-approved resolution calling on European countries to incorporate * parameters of quality of life and happiness to measure progress *. Aware that Denmark led the world's happiest ranking, the 33-year-old Institute of Happiness Research decided: "Since then, my career and my job have been to find out three things: * how to measure happiness, why People are happier than others, and how to improve the quality of life. "As much as they tell us that happiness comes from within, in this part of the world, living in one of the Nordic welfare states, help: Free access to health, university, equality between men and women, good pensions .. "It's not like we're dancing in the streets," Wiking says. "If, for example, I lost my job, I could continue to maintain a relatively high standard of living. I do not think there's anyone in Denmark who can not sleep thinking their kids are not going to college. Compared with the United States of Anxiety, we are very happy: we do not have to compete since infants. That people can have a good life, choose the profession of their choice, it is an advantage on many levels, it even reduces the crime rate, since there is not much to fight about. But we can always learn from other countries, and that's why I run the world through my surveys. " Measuring happiness is not a simple matter, the Happiness Research Institute uses the OECD recommendations, including a life that makes sense: "We follow large groups of people over decades and see what the facts are that Influence their happiness or unhappiness (one of them is the loss of work). With us work economists, philosophers, sociologists, anthropologists, psychologists, political scientists. We are a think tank that we are between the academic and political world, and between society and companies. * If we know that egalitarian societies are happier, why do not we turn that into concrete policies? If people make them unhappy to invest a lot of time in commuting, they are happier if they are walking or cycling, why do not we prioritize it in the design of cities and labor flexibility? The Times rated him as the happiest man in the world ... "I do not know if it's true, but maybe he's among the finalists," he says with a laugh. The last of his books, Hygge, Happiness in Little Things, edited in Spanish by Dome Books, has been translated into 25 languages. The word hygge means well-being, and the Danish conjugate it in a thousand ways, can be verb and adjective, and use it constantly. They want a hyggelig day and when they get cold in the feet they put on a hyggesokker of good wool. It is a lot of the art of creating intimacy, the comfort of the soul, the pleasure of the presence of comforting things, of the welcoming union. Author Harold Arcos *The happiest man in the world* The director of the Happiness Research Institute discovers to us why the Danes are the happiest: they have 'hygge' (Danish: comfort)
Mobile Phone Judith Hellerstein, Vice Chair TTF http://prepaid-data-sim-card.wikia.com/wiki/Denmark Denmark has 4 physical network operators TDC (youSee) Telenor (network sharing with Telia) Telia (network sharing with Telenor) 3 (= Tre) (3G and 4G only) and some dozen MVNOs operating of these networks. TDC’s prepaid card is called Mobiltid and is available in all TDC Butik. The default rate is 1.99 DKK per MB with a maximum of 9.00 DKK per day. The catch here is the data cap of 50 MB, after which the data will be disabled until midnight. It will be reset on the next day. The starter pack (with 10 DKK credit) is sold for free in their outlets (survey) or you can buy it for 49 DKK (with 10 DKK credit) at different gas stations and supermarkets. Data feature packs Default data rate is 0.09 DKK/MB. The following monthly bundles can be added: 1 GB: 25 DKK - for activation text 'DATAS' to 5010 3 GB: 49 DKK - for activation text 'DATAM' to 5010 5 GB: 79 DKK - for activation text 'DATAL' 5010 10 GB: 99 DKK - for activation text 'DATAXL' to 5010 Bundles are valid for 30 days, will renew automatically if there is enough credit plus 5 DKK and can be stopped by texting <activation code>*stop to 5010 e.g. 'DATAL*stop'. Same way to stop them like for data bundles. Oister Oister is a MVNO on the Tre network. After 3 has ceased all prepaid activities in 2011, it's your only option for a prepaid SIM card on this network. It has the best 3G coverage in the country, 2G is by national roaming on Telia network. 4G/LTE of Tre is supported too: Coverage map Their new prepaid line is called Oister Go! To keep the SIM alive, you need to make a recharge once every year.
Go SIM Cards are sold at various outlets that can be found here: Oister resellers . That's in many post offices, Elgiganten, ComputerCity etc. But you may have to look around a bit more than in Germany or other parts of Europe. They have 2 different types of packages: OiSTER Go! Startpakke: 29 DKK with 50 DKK credit with voice, text and data OiSTER Go! Mobilt Bredbånd startpakke: 39 DKK with 300 MB preloaded and data only. Default data rate outside packages is 0.5 DKK per MB. These packs can be loaded on the data SIM: 5 GB: 100 DKK 10 GB: 200 DKK 25 GB: 300 DKK Reload packages are valid for 12 months and must be bought online on https://www.oister.dk/go/ giving your mobile number. Data-only SIM The starter pack "OiSTER Mobilt Bredbånd Tank Selv" as SIM card only is 99 DKK and with a 3G modem is 499 DKK is solod at the same places. Some users reported difficulties in finding it. Both come with a 7 days activation (and max. 50 GB data). At the end of this time, you can buy extra time/data. All their packs are time-based for 50 GB: 1 day: 29 DKK 7 days: 79 DKK 30 days: 199 DKK 90 days: 499 DKK These packages must be bought online http://www.oister.dk/tankselv following this procedure: Select your time period: 1, 7, 30 or 90 days, press "Gå til betaling", put in your credit card information, copy your activation code, go back to www.oister.dk/tankselv, put in your "Kundenummer" (= Customer ID) and paste your activation code into "Aktiveringskode", press "Aktivér Mobilt Bredbånd". The activation process should take around 10 mins. Your SIM card is active for the purchased time. The volume limit is 50 GB per period. So each activation code represents a period, thus 1 day has the same 50 GB limit as 90 days have.
Tella Telia offers a Telia Talk prepaid SIM for voice, text and data. It's available in many 7-Eleven shops, service stations, supermarkets and post offices in the country: Store locator and in Telia outlets. The SIM card is 29 DKK with the same credit.Packages are sold in triple-cut (standard, micro- and nano-size). Top-up vouchers called Taleditskort can be purchased there and in many other locations. You'll need to enter *123*<voucher code># to recharge by card. To top-up online you'll need to have a Danish bank account or credit card including the personsnummer. So keeping your phone number alive from abroad will be difficult and you need to buy top-up vouchers in Denmark instead. Check balance by *110# Data feature package Default data rate is 10 DKK per MB. The following packs can be added to get better data rates. These packs are sold as separate top-up vouchers called Datakort. Unfortunately not all outlets selling the taletidskort sell them, which means you may have to shop around for them (7-Eleven and Shell for instance don't sell them, but Telia shops as well as many supermarkets do): 1 GB for 1 week: 49 DKK 3 GB for 1 month: 79 DKK 10 GB for 1 month: 179 DKK 30 GB for 3 months: 399 DKK You’ll have one week, one month or three months to use the data, and the packages cost 49, 99 and 299 Danish kroner. The rest of the Danish providers offer many different deals. Sometimes you won’t be able to get 3G or 4G access. Often you’ll only pay for the first 5-10 MB of usage each day, but there’ll be a limit each day for the data usage. You’ll be able to buy prepaid deals at many shops – both electronic shops and supermarkets. Some of the providers also have their own shops in the bigger Danish cities, e.g. Copenhagen, Aarhus, Aalborg and Odense. Who we are Technology provides the tools that enable people to connect, collaborate, and work towards making the world more accessible, enabling the benefits of the Internet to be available to all. The At-Large Technology Taskforce (TTF) evaluates and reviews different technologies and tools that can help the ICANN At-Large Community communicate, collaborate and accomplish their goals and objectives for ICANN activities. Examples of these technologies include: chat tools web conferencing tools captioning to anything that will help Individual Internet users become active in the At-Large Community.
Making Adobe Connect Recordings more accessible All of the At-Large conference calls and webinars are done using Adobe Connect conferencing solution which produces recordings encoded in Adobe Flash. Adobe Connect recordings in Flash are unplayable on mobile and tablet devices. Also, playing an Adobe Connect recording on a PC with Flash installed is cumbersome compared with experiences on video sharing websites. The TTF is working with ICANN on how to export Adobe Connect recordings from Flash only recordings to formats like MP4 which can be edited and put on video sharing websites for easier resharing and accessible to the At-Large community.

What can you change at ICANN? Invitation to NCUC-EURALO outreach at ICANN 58, Copenhagen, Denmark 11 March, 2017, 15:00-18:00 Room B4.2 Noncommercial Users Constituency (NCUC) and European Regional At-Large Organization (EURALO) invite you to participate in an outreach session for civil society, academia and end users. Location: Bella Center Copenhagen (Center Blvd. 5, 2300 København S, Denmark) Time: during the 58th public meeting of The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) on 11th of March 2017, at 15:00 - 18:00. Join our interactive discussion with ICANN veterans and new community members - we are going to convince you why ICANN is different this year and why you should care and join or at least keep up to date with what is going on! We are NGOs and civil society organisations, Internet users and academics who believe that everyone has a stake in Internet governance, and everyone can participate and contribute to Internet policy. We ensure that civil society and end users have a strong voice in ICANN and contribute to policy processes. NCUC and EURALO deal with many critical issues related to domain name system at ICANN, such as human rights, data protection, jurisdiction, access to domain names, transparency, diversity, and many more. We will introduce NCUC and EURALO, explain what has happened at ICANN last year during and after the transition from US oversight, and open the floor for discussion on various topics, where civil society, academia and users are contributing to policy making. You can bring up any issue of your interest and get the answer on how we are addressing it at ICANN. Privacy? Accountability? Jurisdiction? Cybersecurity? Anything else? NCUC and EURALO members are working on these issues and would be happy to discuss them with you! The outreach will be followed by an informal reception, where you can meet like-minded people and continue the discussion over drinks and snacks. Please RSVP to this invitation by sending email to maryam.bakoshi@icann.org or ncuc@ncuc.org. Registration at ICANN meetings is free https://registration.icann.org/ We look forward to seeing you for discussion and drinks, 11 March at the Bella Centre Copenhagen. Farzaneh Badiei (Badii), NCUC Chair http://www.ncuc.org Olivier Crépin-Leblond, EURALO Chair https://atlarge.icann.org/ralos/euralo About us: Noncommercial Users Constituency (NCUC) advocates positions on domain name-related policies that protect and support noncommercial communication and activity on the Internet. NCUC members are involved in civil liberties and human rights, Internet freedom, consumer protection, education, research, development, and many other areas of public policy advocacy, both within ICANN and contributing to other Internet governance and Internet policy spaces. NCUC is the leading representative of civil society in ICANN's multistakeholder model. European Regional At-Large Organization (EURALO) represents the interests of European Internet end-users in ICANN. EURALO is one of five regional organisations that are primary organizational home for the voice and concerns of individual Internet users in ICANN. EURALO advises the ICANN Board on the activities of ICANN that impact on user interests, and advocates for the interests of users in ICANN policy and in other Internet governance processes.
DNS WOMEN started in 2009 as a small group of five women inside ICANN willing to encourage other women to be more active and participative in ICANN, as well as in the DNS industry. This group of five women, from different countries as Australia, Brazil, England and United States, were focused on building a women network for exchange knowledge, experiences and business opportunities, became now a known movement with more than 300 members around the world. DNS WOMEN is now establishing chapters and this year will start a project to capacitate women to start business in the DNS industry, focused on developing regions. Pioneers were, in alphabetic order, Annalisa Roger(US), Cheryl Langdon Orr (AU), Karla Valente (US), Leslie Cowley (UK) and myself (BR), with the tireless support of ICANN staff members as Anne Rachel, Carole Cornell, Glen de Saint Gery, Diane Schroeder, Joette Youkhanna, Mandy Carver, Melanie Cruz and Tanzanica King, among many other. Pioneers also, as volunteer photographers, helping to keep our events registered were Glenn McKnight, Jorge Etges and Michelle Chaplow. Some special members that immediately supported us and need to be part of this history were Marilyn Cade(US), Hong Xue(CN) and Jian Zhang(CN). Some of pioneers are not with us anymore, both from volunteers and staff side, since they have departed to face other challenges and endeavors. Initially we promoted women breakfast in each ICANN meeting to get women together and start our mission. Last year, in Finland, we changed to a cocktail party. At next DNS WOMEN cocktail in Copenhagen - ICANN 58 - we will be celebrating more than 20 events. It is important to mention the crescent interest this movement has raised around the community that attracted very relevant companies in the DNS industry to sponsor our meetings, some of them several times: (in alphabetic order): .ASIA; Afilias, Amazon, Cabase, CONAC, Dominios Latinomerica, .FI, .Green, MarkMonitor, Neustar, Public Interest Registry, Siter, South School Internet Governance and Uniregistry. Also relevant is to see ICANN Board members and ICANN CEO/President and Chair of the Board normally attending our events! We expect to keep growing, embracing our mission and allowing more and more women to be part of our network, giving them the opportunity to learn, exchange experiences, join ICANN, start new business and make partnerships with other women around the world. That is what we work for.

Some have called Blockchain “the biggest thing to happen on the Internet since the Worldwide Web”. What is it, and why should the ICANN community care? Don & Alex Tapscott, in their book Blockchain Revolution, describe Blockchain as, “an incorruptible digital ledger of economic transactions that can be programmed to record not just financial transactions but virtually everything of value.” You may also have heard Blockchain described as “the Internet of value” as opposed to the Worldwide Web which they call the “Internet of information”. Bitcoin is the most well known application of Blockchain application, but crypto-currency is only one of many applications Blockchain can support. Other applications for this distributed ledger technology includes finance, shipping and logistics, public records, intellectual property rights, land records, and insurance. Over USD $1B was invested in Blockchain in 2016 by some of the largest banks, and global companies including IBM, Microsoft, Amazon, JP Morgan Chase, Citibank, HSBC, Santander, Deutsche Bank and Bank of Japan. Governments have announced plans to create their own crypto currencies, and to utilize Blockchain for e-Government. Pilots are in testing, hundreds, if not thousands, of start-ups have launched services, some using Blockchain to crowd-fund their ventures. Blockchain enabled registries are already offering user-friendly alternative root domain names and DNS services for participants in Blockchain networks.
Blockchain Ken Hansen, Organizer, Blockchain Roadshow
Following are some of the key questions the ICANN community may want to explore. Is Blockchain an alternative way to provide domain registry services? Is Blockchain a more efficient way of recording domain name transfers? Could Blockchain be a more secure means of resolving DNS queries? Could a “permissioned” Blockchain be applied to whois records? Could registry zone files be stored in a Blockchain? Why would that be better? Can Blockchain technology be used for domain related data escrow? Is there an opportunity for vertically focused gTLDs to offer value-added Blockchain services? Before Blockchain use can come into widespread use, some applications, will require the resolution of a number of legal, regulatory, policy and standards issues. No doubt, many from the ICANN community will be engaged in resolving some of these issues, and unlocking opportunity. To learn more about Blockchain, attend the “Blockchain 101 Information Session” hosted at the Copenhagen FinTech Lab on Friday, March 17. More here: http://BlockchainRoadshow.com . Danish Food
Danish cuisine (Danish: det danske køkken), originating from the peasant population's own local produce. The open sandwiches, known as smørrebrød, which in their basic form are the usual fare for lunch, can be considered a national speciality when prepared and decorated with a variety of fine ingredients. Hot meals are traditionally prepared from ground meats, such as frikadeller (meat balls) and medisterpølse, or from more substantial meat and fish dishes such as flæskesteg (roast pork with crackling) or kogt torsk (poached cod) with mustard sauce and trimmings.
