First-time Participants to the Summer Session are introduced to the GE Methodology for educators and support staff. This is a four-day course.
GE Methodology Description for Eductors
Experienced classroom teachers share basic practices, methods, and theories of GE Methodology is grounded in six basic tenents: All Children Can Learn, Building Self Esteem, Climate of Mutual respect, High Expectations, Teacher Attitude and Responsiblity, and Teacher Knowledge and Skill. In the four-day training session participants are immersed in the research-based 17 Classroom Practices to be an effective teacher. Each of the 17 practices is examined through the lens of developing a Culture of Respect and promoting Academic Excellence. Classroom management is anchored in the GE 8 Expectations.
The 36 Life Principles promote students of character. Particpants are provided with a GE Manual of instructional materials and a wealth of resources, research, and structures to use in his/her own learning environment. GE Methodology provides a blueprint to be an exemplary educator. With full implementation of Great Expectation Methodology, academic performace and attendance go up and discipline rferrals go down. Great Expectations® sessions are taught by teachers who successfully implement the Great Expectations (GE) practices in their own classroom/trainings during the school year.
These trainings have their foundation in the best educational research and help develop practices that will excite students and revolutionize learning! Each course features practical
methods you can take back to your classroom and use next year.
Your instructors will model the types of learning strategies and community-building activities that they use with their students, so you will expereience GE in action.
Returning Participants and Administrators who have previously attended GE Methodology can choose from advanced courses created especially for them. These courses represent all subject areas and other areas of interest. The Great Expectations® Methodology is woven throughout each of these advanced courses. GE courses which are content-specific to core academic subject areas are high quality professional development to improve students’ academic performance to meet state standards.
As of this writing, the following courses are open for enrollment. However, a course requires a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 30 participants. If the course does not meet the minimum, or it has reached capacity, we will do everything possible to place you in your alternate course selection. Payments for CMU or SVSU credit will be handled on the first day of class.
CANCELLATIONS must be received in writing two weeks prior to the event. If registration fees have been paid and a participant cancels, a credit will be applied to
the school for future GE training.
NO SHOWS Due to cost associated with anticipated attendance, participants who do not attend classes will be charged full price. No credit will be given to no-shows.
