Last Friday we hosted the Moutere Hills Swimming Sports, Saree thinks it was the loudest ever with all the cheering and support! I was extremely impressed by the swimming ability across the four schools that attended.
Jade represented us in all four Championship Events, being our fastest swimmer in each. Jade won all four events… CONGRATULATIONS JADE!!!
Our Junior and Senior Relay Teams also won, so we are Moutere Hills Champions for 2019. CONGRATULATIONS Hannah, Costa, Morgan, Emma – Junior and Brooke, Jade, Gabi, Brecon - Senior
Monday morning saw us all preparing for a major event… everyone adding special touches to their attire, top hats, fascinators, ties, flowers and tuxedos… we were all invited to Laurens Wedding! Lauren didn’t know this…. we had invited ourselves!
There were splendidly turned out guests, flower girls, groomsmen, bridesmaids (in blue) a handsome groom and a stunning bride. After an 'emotional' ceremony the bride threw her bouquet (to which one of our students remarked “I didn’t know Heidi was so competitive!”) before everyone shared cake, served by the Bridesmaids, in time for morning tea.
Thank you to all the parents who were able to provide transport for our Museum trips this week… it was very tight and required a lot of juggling (thank you Saree) and some parents who did a number of trips in one day…, but we got there, thank you. The Museum staff remarked positively on the behavior of our students. Nicki a museum educator was so impressed by our Year 7/8 that she wished she had not split them into two separate groups but rather just taken then as one group of 48 as they were so engaged, responsive and responsible! WOW!

Next Monday will see 66 of our students packing up cars and trailers as they head to Marahau for the week. Thank you in advance to all the parents who are helping out to make this week a success. With a walk to Anchorage and boat trip back, abseiling, mountain biking and more planned, it is going to be a great week.
Lauren, Jaki and Nardia will be with them for the full week, Julieanne is joining them Tuesday and Wednesday and Heidi and I are cooking tea Tuesday (might be takeaways!)
As you are aware our pool is now closed for the season due to the water shortage. Patsy and a small team of helpers have done an outstanding job keeping our pool open and healthy throughout the long hot summer... THANK YOU.
Please return your pool keys back to the Office.
School water... recent testing has shown that our water at school is all good to drink. We do still have a trailer of water available for students to access as well. Please ensure your child has a drink bottle with them at school. They can use the water here if you are anxious of your own supply.
I have a meeting with TDC on Monday to discuss a plan of action re water at school if this drought continues. The Board are looking at future water collection possibilities.
On Friday 22 March we have the opportunity for the whole school to see the Royal New Zealand Ballet at the Theatre Royal. We have decided to take buses to and from this event. There will be no cost for this experience.
Teachers are currently writing reports. At this stage we plan for these to come home to you in the final week of the term, when we will also hold our first Student-led Conference for the year.
