OUR NEXT STEPS FORWARD
First Presbyterian Church of Eustis
In March, the elders announced a new organizational initiative to help make our church more effective in ministry. Every activity that our church does falls under one of six ministry teams, each of which is being led by a pair of elders. Those teams include the Christian education, worship, fellowship and membership, missions, administration, and nominating teams. The goal of these teams is not to micromanage existing ministries. Rather, it is to equip and support existing ministries, identify areas where we need to ministries, and help empower our new pastor to facilitate growth from the grass roots level. The emphasis is not on committees holding ministries accountable. The emphasis is on building supporting work groups to help our body of faith grow as we love, worship, grow, pray, and serve. In the coming months, we will detail the goals and objectives of these ministry teams, and how they are going to help first church to know Jesus in a better way and show Jesus to more people.
Just a friendly reminder to wear those Easter hats and bonnets on Easter Sunday. Our very own Mr. Anonymous has pledged to donate money to the church missions programs for every man, woman, and child to wear an Easter hat at any of our services. This is a fun, colorful, creative way to celebrate Easter and embrace the meaning of Easter by helping to make a difference in ministry. Can't wait to see you all in your finest Easter hats!
The PNC team is working hard for our congregation. Over a 100 PIFs have been reviewed, and a couple of Skype interviews have take place, with more in the coming weeks. We will continue to keep you informed periodically during Sunday worship, at all three services. Please keep praying for the members of the PNC, our future pastor, and his or her current congregation.
The Great easter Bonnet Challenge
The inaugural Walk With Jesus Event was an enormous success. We got lot of great feedback, that this was so much more than an egg hunt. It was the most meaningful Easter event for kids.
As of February 28. 2018:

Total Expenses: $108,999.18

Walk with Jesus
Thank you from
On behalf of all the volunteer leaders of the Golden Triangle Teen MOPS, I would like to thank the congregation for your continued support of this program. Many of you will be picking up pies for your Easter celebrations, but we hope you realize that your support for this and other fund-raisers has made this program possible.
Our goal is simple. We aim to show the heart of Christ in our love for young moms and their children. These young women, along with their children, meet here twice a month. It is such a blessing to have facilities and childcare to make these meetings possible. We feed these young families, offer programs relevant to life management, marriage and parenting, and offer emotional and spiritual support. As we get to know these women, we learn their stories and find ways to help during this important time in their lives. This could be a bus ticket, assistance in getting registered at Lake Tech, or simply picking up a couple of items at the grocery store. We are already seeing several young moms returning to help now that they have gotten on their feet.
We appreciate all your support and contributions to keep our group going and growing. We couldn’t do this without your prayers and support.

DO YOU HAVE A GOOD PLACE TO HANG POSTERS? IF SO, WE WANT YOUR HELP
The Director of Communication is looking for people who work in high-traffic areas where we could hang posters to promote upcoming events, such as Lifetree Cafe, concerts, and fund-raisers. We average 2-4 posters per month. If you can help get the word out about what is happening at First Church, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks so much for considering way you can help us grow and serve our community.

Poor Man's Formal has become an annual event, and one of our favorites. We dress up in our finest attire for 3 courses of fine dining and live entertainment...the first course at McDonalds's, the second at Burger King, (complete with crowns) and dessert at Dairy Queen. The entertainment? Bowling, of course. We laughed our tails off.
VBS WORK DAY
Due to our staff, our facility, and the pure awesomeness of our VBS, each year for the last few years, Group Publishing, who creates our Vacation Bible School curriculum, asks us to host a training day for other churches doing this year's "Shipwrecked" VBS. It is a lot of work, but our church gets a bid head start on building sets and props, and we get hundreds of dollars worth of free materials for hosting. Thanks to Shannon and her team for going the extra mile for our kids.

I know it is hard to believe, but Shannon is telling us that it is already time to start getting ready for VBS, and Locking in your favorite roles in the epic annual event!. She is getting a little excited...remarkably eager...VBS obsessed...who's to say. In any event, she has already begun working on VBS and is looking to assemble the VBS Dream Team to help kids have the experience of a lifetime this summer being shipwrecked on a desert island with a God who saves.
I ended my February TB Express communication with these words:
We temper our Lenten efforts with the fact that we know the end of the story—that resurrection and life win! Our worship during Lent will take on a slightly more-subdued nature. But not too much. Try as we might, we remain Easter People, even through this time of reflection. My encouragement is that you make an honest consideration of your personal walk with Jesus more a part of the Lenten experience, even as you commit to growing in your faith as a joyful disciple of our Savior.
Poof! The season of Lent has come and gone, and we are rejoicing in the realization that we are Resurrection People! Even on our worst days, Jesus’ victorious words cut through the haze of our confusion: Because I live, you will live also (John 14:19). I don’t have a neat, clean theology of resurrection all worked out. I fall back on those clear words from Jesus. Some how, some way, in God’s ineffable economy of salvation, death will not have the last word for me. Life will. This full, abundant life that Jesus promises does not begin when I die. It has already begun. It started a long time ago when I accepted for myself the faith of my parents, and put my trust in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. I will still die a physical death, but I need not fear that reality. Neither do I seek to hasten it. I am already living in the actuality of eternal life given to me as a gift of grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Thus, the Avery and Marsh song of the Seventies is true for me and I happily sing it whatever the season:
Ev’ry morning is Easter morning from now on;
Ev’ry day’s Resurrection Day, the past is over and gone!
Resurrection is not a once-in-a-lifetime happening, either. For me, the fact that I run with Easter People comes to my mind on a regular basis. That’s true of churches, too. We all, individually and communally, stumble through cycles of growth and decline, firing up and flaming out, joy and sorrow. As FPCE motors toward the end of this interim time, I hope that resurrection and life are key concepts that guide your thinking and planning. I trust that they do. If not, I will be around Eustis for a while longer to remind you of that fact and to encourage you to embrace it and live it as we move toward the new season of life God has in store for all of us.
Christ is Risen! He is risen indeed!
