The Blackthorn Key
Novel by Kevin Sands
Book review by Brielle and Adah
This exciting novel expresses the true meaning of friendship, loyalty, and adventure all from the perspective of Christopher Rowe, an apprentice to Master Benedict Blackthorn. Christopher lived in an orphanage until he was about 12 years old when he got an apprenticeship with Mr. Blackthorn. Mr. Blackthorn was an apothecary. Mr. Blackthorn taught him the strange ways of the apothecary's life. They would put their recipes in codes and ciphers, sometimes in Latin to prevent other apothecaries from stealing their recipes, which will come in use in the future. Christopher experiences the mysterious Cult of the Archangel, a band of killers murdering Apothecaries. Christopher has lived a semi normal life until his parents passed away. Our favorite part was a unanticipated part when one of the characters reveals he is the master of the Cult of the Archangel (the murderers). We highly recommend 4th grade and up read The Blackthorn Key.

Today we will be talking about Antarctica melting and how it affects things in Antarctica. Common animals in Antarctica are penguins, whales, seals, albatrosses, seabirds and a ton of invertebrates. Also, scientists are saying that by the sea level rising it affects the cities around the coast. This is happening because of thermal expansion. Thermal expansion is the tendency of matter to change in shape, area, and volume in response to a change in temperature. Another thing, there are approximately 37 research bases in Antarctica that are occupied year around.
The sea levels are rising faster than any point in the last two thousand years. Some scientists say Antarctica is being affected by global warming. The earth is warming up so that it is warming the water which affects the ice glaciers that are still frozen. NASA is now seeing by watching rising sea levels, to see if this is more dangerous than they thought. I hope you enjoyed are article and we will see you next time bye!

I know that a lot of classes including mine have a lot of different opinions on the one treat per month. I personally think that a class should be able to have more than one treat per month and I'm going to tell you why.
The first reason is that I know most kids 1st grade and up are a custom to having their birthday celebrated at school by handing out treats. Now that kids are not able to have more than one treat a month they're not celebrating their birthdays at school. Also some classes including mine are having the students pay paws tickets to get the treat, so that means that some kids don't have enough paws tickets to by the treat so there not getting the one treat per month.
In conclusion, how should a child's joy at school be ruined due to someone opinion and others allergies and issues. So I think that kids should be able to have joy by celebrating their birthday and her friends birthdays.
March Madness has ended, but Gonzaga was not part of it this year. Gonzaga lost to Florida State 75 to 60. But Gonzaga did do better than expected, after losing lots of key players last year. The teams who have made it to the final 4 were Loyolla Chicago, Michigan, Kansas, and Villanova. The team who won the NCAA Men's Championship this year was Villanova. Gonzaga final record is 32 and 5 so we still had a good year this year. Go Zags! Going into next year the Zags are ranked 6.
The sports trifecta is about to happen in Philadelphia, first with the Super Bowl with the Eagles and now with Villanova. This could happen because the Philadelphia Flyers made it to the playoffs. So who knows if this is their year. But it is definitely a huge party down in Philadelphia.
On February 3, 1690 the British first issued paper money to the American colonies to pay for the war with the French in Canada. The paper money was more of a voucher for British coins. These vouchers were supposed to be able to be redeemed after the war had been finished and hopefully won. When the money was in circulation the colonists trusted their government to pay them later.
The British government held to their word and paid them the coins when asked in return for the slips. The redeemable slips could even be traded for gold or silver. With most things worth anything, people made counterfeit. The real ones and fake often couldn’t be distinguished.
