Spanish Fork FFA
We have the opportunity to use the Spanish Fork Fairgrounds for a lot of different things. We decided that we would give back and spent an evening cleaning. We were able to pick up trash, clean gutters, and make the fairgrounds more presentable for the bull fights that were happening.
Students were able to mingle and get to know one another at the opening social. Games, food and fun were had. It was great to play a variety of outdoor games including corn hole, volleyball, horseshoe golf, and more. Over 50 students showed up and were were able to get to now a lot of the new members within our chapter. We look forward to continue success at these events.
Each year the Spanish Fork FFA is asked to do the buyers dinner for the State Fair Livestock auction. This year 12 students came to help us serve dinner to over 500 people dinner! It was a great success and we were excite this year to have the addition of goat Thanks to Dwight Liddiard, Rob Willoughby and Steve Burton for all your help!
AI Field Trip
A group of students stayed at the state fair to help with Little Hands on the Farm. They were able to help kids learn more about where their food comes from. Students spent some time helping restock, dig for seeds, be a tractor wrangler and teaching students about the different parts of the industry. THanks to those who spent the time serving!
A small group of Advanced Animal Science Students had the opportunity to go and participate in Laproscopic AI. Students not only watched the process, but were able to jump in and help with the preparation including animal handling, surgery sterlization/prep, post operation care, and more. It was an awesome experience to go and watch these kids be able to learn by doing. Thanks to Jeff Long, Garrick Liddiard, Mandy & Ryan Long and Tyson Rule for allowing us the cool experience.
Little Hands on the Farm
Students have been hard at work selling produce and sausage at the farmers market. It has been a great success to sell vegetables from the school garden as well and projects and vegetables from students home gardens as well.
You can donate jeans in any of the ag teachers classrooms. This year we are doing our tree for Levi Sampson who was killed in an accident this summer. All donations help us make a tree that will be auctioned off and the proceeds go to Primary Children's hospital
